Made of high hills, valleys and rivers, covered with wild flowers, and trees of many species, rich in history, culture, and nature, Blue Mountain Oasis will greet you and take your breath away. Situated on the top of Blue Mountain, an 800 acre mountain reaching up to 2,200 feet, higher than any other mountain in the vicinity, BLUE MOUNTAIN dominates a magnificent country—hills and valleys, fields and forests, rivers and ravines.
It is covered with trees, from the soaring tulip poplar and the majestic oak, to the whispering pine, the charming dogwood and the colorful redbud. Wild flowers abound—the wild anemone, first to appear in the spring, the humble bloodroot, the glamorous trillium, the precious and rare lady’s-slipper. In that enchanting setting, roam a host of wild animals, none dangerous and all interesting to watch—deer, raccoons, woodchucks and squirrels (including the flying variety), grouse, quails and wild ducks, and innumerable other birds which paint flashes of brilliant colors in the air and fill the silence of the woods with their gay and harmonious songs.
Rich in history dating back to the 1800's, Blue Mountain Oasis had Mosby Rangers hiding out on the mountain during the Civil War; escaped slaves found the mountain a place of safety before the Civil War; the battle of Cedar Creek, one of the most decisive of the Civil War, was fought in the Valley just below Blue Mountain and could be viewed from a high point on the mountain. John Marshall, the first chief justice of the USA, lived on the mountain.
